Best Indian Restaurants in Perth and suburbs
Local Recommendations from our My Guide Perth team
Aussies love their curries so it's no wonder that Indian food is one of the most popular cuisines in WA. From the richer and milder curries of Northern India to the fiery, perspiration inducing ones of Southern India, our selection will tempt you...
Most of Perth's Indian restaurants serve mainly Northern Indian food with a few dishes from Southern India. If you prefer curries that are less spicy yet richer in flavour primarily due to the use of dairy products, then Northern Indian food is the obvious choice for you. An excellent example of a Northern Indian dish is Tandoori Chicken, which is chicken that has been well marinated in a special blend of spices and then baked in a unique Indian oven called a Tandoor. This is usually served with Basmati Rice and Naan, an Indian flatbread. Other well known dishes are Keema, Butter Chicken, Lamb Roganjosh, Prawn Masala and Chicken Tikka Masala. Don't forget to finish off your meal with some Indian desserts such as an icecream called Kulfi. Delicious!Southern Indian cooking is renowned for its spiciness due to the heavier use of chilli. Instead of dairy products, chefs use coconut milk in their curries thus producing less rich but equally tasty fare due to the addition of other exotic ingredients.
