After establishing a small corner shop bakery in 1999, Heinz Muller has now gone on to develop the celebrated Abhi's Bread, the perfect spot for fresh, organic and healthy products. He combines European baking with local produce to create mouth watering nibbles in his successful and evergrowing business.
The hardworking bakers rise early every morning to whip up wonderful breads, pastries and cakes for the shop, as well as delivering to local restaurants, cafe's and supermarkets. The friendly staff understand the need for speedy service and are always at hand to help you chose the right bread; it's difficult with so much choice!
As well as the store they can be found every weekend at the Fremantle markets on the corner of South Terrace and Henderson Street (between the food hall and the craft hall on the left hand side), where early risers might be lucky enough to nab something that's still warm from the oven. (Markets open Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
The menu is endless and with so much choice, why not try something a bit different? Popular breads include the organic pepita, a multigrain loaf with crunchy pepita seeds as a great source of protein, or the celebrated organic polenta and sultana loaf made with unbleached white flour, polenta and juicy Australian grown sultanas (although you'll have to be quick as there's rarely any left after 10am).
As well as the famous bread, Abhi's offers cakes and pastries (in particular a delicious brownie cake), Australian classics if you're looking for a bit of culture (such as the spelt lamington) and don't be afraid to try the quirkier products, like the spelt curry pumpkin pie!
