Discover Western Australia’s rich and historic relationship with the sea while taking a trip through maritime history at the Western Australian Maritime Museum.
Found on the coastline of the Indian Ocean, the museum takes you on a magical maritime tour, boasting relics of a city dependent on the ocean for work and play. See leisure boats, handcrafted sailing boats and commercial pearl luggers. Admire the winning America's Cup yacht, Australia II, an Oberon class submarine HMAS Ovens, Jon Sanders’ Parry Endeavour and many other iconic vessels.
Long term exhibitions document the country’s navel defence, the development of the Swan River, Western Australia’s fishing industry, the history of trade and exchange between countries on the Indian Ocean, cargo, steam machinery and the story of Fremantle Harbour.
The Western Australian Maritime Museum is a fascinating look at the country’s maritime history and a great day out for the whole family.
