Witness one of the world’s finest collections of Indigenous Australian art at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
With an emphasis on the arts of Australia, visitors to the gallery can experience unique exhibitions of Australian artists; both historic and contemporary. Geographically located on the Indian Ocean Rim, the gallery is at a geographical advantage to access many of the most exciting cultures of the world for a strong mix of programs, exhibitions, collections and events.
Founded in 1895, the art gallery occupies three heritage buildings of the Perth Cultural Centre.
Free guided tours are taken daily by experienced volunteers to help you make the most of your visit. A range of floor talks are conducted to explore certain aspects of exhibitions. If you prefer to take things at your own pace, take one of the self-guided gallery trails or purchase an exhibition catalogue from the gallery shop to read about the works in detail.
