Perth's Astor Theatre is a unique multi-function venue that occupies one's of the city's most iconic and historical buildings. The art deco building was officially opened in 1919 and known then as The Lyceum. The Astor is heritage listed and offers two performance venues - the Astor Theatre itself and the Astor Lounge. Live music performances, comedy acts, beauty contests and film screenings are regularly held here. The Astor can also be booked for school, community and private functions. Many famous local, national and international artistes have performed at The Astor such as jazz giant Larry Carlton, Frente, The Waifs and Boney M. The Astor is located in the upmarket suburb of Mount Lawley which has many restaurants and bars convenientely situated nearby.
